Karachiwala is an independent civic reporting app for Karachi, built and run by Hammad Mustafa. It is not a government app, and using it does not create any relationship with a government body.

What you're agreeing to

By creating an account or using Karachiwala, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Using Karachiwala honestly

• Report photos must be real, taken through the app's own camera, at the actual location and moment you say they were taken. Submitting a staged, misleading, or unrelated photo is a violation of these terms.
• Don't submit reports about problems that don't exist, or duplicate the same problem repeatedly to inflate activity.
• Don't use the app to harass, defame, or target a specific person.
• Don't attempt to verify your own reports, impersonate another user, or create multiple accounts to get around a block or ban.

Your content

You keep ownership of the photos and descriptions you submit. By submitting a report, you give Karachiwala permission to display it publicly as part of the civic record, including after a report is resolved, since the historical record is the point of the app.

Moderation and enforcement

Every report is reviewed by a human moderator before it becomes public. We can reject a report, remove content, or suspend or ban an account that violates these terms, at our discretion, to keep the record trustworthy for everyone else.

No guarantee of outcomes

Karachiwala helps you report a problem and build a public record of it. It does not guarantee that any authority will see, respond to, or fix a reported problem. “Likely responsible authority” suggestions are our own best estimate, not a confirmation that a report has reached anyone.

Government and NGO accounts

Official accounts are subject to additional terms, see our Official Account Agreement.

Changes to these terms

If we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Karachiwala after a change means you accept the updated terms.
